Most of the Wineries along the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail are just a short drive from nearly any Midwest city.

Chicago, Illinois is 1 ½ hours away.
Detroit, Michigan is 2 ½ hours away.
Grand Rapids, Michigan is 1 hour away.
Kalamazoo, Michigan is ½ hour away.
South Bend, Indiana is ½ hour away.

Tips for Touring

The following are some tips to help make your wine tasting experience both enjoyable and memorable!

1. When planning your trip to wine country, not all wineries can accommodate groups (10 or more), without advance notice. Please give wineries a call at least 5 to 7 days prior to your visit, to schedule an appointment.
   
   
2. We encourage you to designate a driver who will not consume alcohol or hire a driver for the day.
   
   
3. Limiting your visits to 4 - 5 wineries per day will ensure a varied and pleasant experience.
   
   
4. Avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes, as this will inhibit one's ability to distinguish the aromas/bouquet of a wine.
   
   
5. Don't feel obligated to drink all that is poured for you to taste.
   
   
6. If you find a wine that you may not care for, simply pour it out and sample something else.
   
   
7. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't know the difference between Pinot Noir and Merlot, just ask! Winemakers and staff are only too happy to explain.
   
   
8. When you find wines you enjoy, don't hesitate to purchase enough to enjoy later or give as a gift.
   
   
9. Most important ... Have Fun!
